The Lagos State Government white paper on the ENDSARs Judicial Panel of Inquiry Report has further justified our earlier position that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and indeed every other person indicted by the panel is not fit to implement the findings and recommendations of the report, and should therefore step down for a proper prosecution to happen.
The claims by the released White Paper beat every reason that a government which setup a panel to investigate acts of brutality against citizens is turning around to condemn the findings of same panel that was legally constituted to dispense justice to victims of police brutality and armless protesters at the Lekki tollgate.
The position and claims of “inconsistences and contradictions” of the JPI report by the Lagos state government, and the blanket dismissal of the panel report as “totally unreliable and therefore unacceptable”, only gave credence to sponsored campaigns against the JPI report over the past two weeks of its release to the public, and should be rejected.
It is also baffling that the Lagos state government is only focusing on few cases of inconsistencies, while downplaying the very fact of police brutality which led to the protests, and which were substantially proven by the JPI report.
Again, we demand the resignation of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and all other persons indicted by the JPI report to pave way for an unbiased implementation of the recommendations of the report which also indicted him.
