On this auspicious occasion of the International Youth Day, we extend our warm felicitation to all youths, who we consider as the drivers of a virile and prosperous society.
This year’s celebration and theme: “Transforming food systems: Youth innovation for human and planetary health”, provides us the opportunity to reflect on the rich potential of our youth in our quest to maximising the agricultural value chain for humanity and the sustainability of our planet.
Conversations around youth innovation for the transformation of food systems wouldn’t have come at a better time, especially in the wake of the recent report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which the United Nations has described as ‘code red for humanity’.
It is our hope that in response to the IPCC report, national governments would prioritise youth initiatives to support innovation in agriculture in order to fight the threatening food insecurity and drought being caused by changes in climate.
For us at SING Nigeria, we will continue to support youth innovation and invest in developing the capacity of Nigerian youths for global competitiveness.
To the youths, remember that the space is never given, it is fought for, rise up, and take the space!
