Ondo Election 2020: Candidates yet to provide clear and visible manifestos
30th September 2020 0

Ondo state governorship election is only a few days away and electorates are yet to feel the pulse in terms of the expectations. Most of the candidates rather than discuss issues of social, cultural and economic advancements have been busy engaging in wars of words and threats.

Nigerian elections have witnessed setback as political parties are mostly built without ideological foundations, thus it is difficult to actually define the character of each party. In light of this, politicians have consistently engaged themselves in a melodrama of political games of aspirations without a clear direction for the Ondo electorates who remains the beneficiary of the contest.

SING Nigeria in their community engagement with Ondo citizens discovered that most of the communities are resolved on various candidates as they do not receive the needed voters’ education to guide their expectations at the polls. Amongst the communities visited are Akure North, Akure South, Ifedore (Ijare), Imoga etc.

In line with her core values of sustainable development, SING Nigeria hereby advises the various candidates to present a tenable and implementable campaign content for the consumption of the electorate so as to guide their voting decision rather than wait to engage in vote buying as drawn from inferential deductions witnessed in the community engagements.

Voters are also advised to shun vote selling and buying, knowing that the tendency for a show of force by various candidates cannot be ruled out therefore voters should avoid those electoral vices that will mare the integrity of the process. e.g. ballot box snatching, rigging and violence (thuggery).
