26th July 2020 0

SING Nigeria in very strong terms condemns the unfortunate violent attack that transpired at the entrance to the Palace of the Oba of Benin by political thugs.

In a statement released by its Executive Director, Comrade Idris Usman, he said in very clear terms that what happened in Benin City yesterday has every tendency to undermine the process of the upcoming election in Edo state as it shows that politicians have begun to arm and encourage the use of thugs and violence during campaigns as clearly seen yesterday at the Oba’s palace.

Comrade Idris Usman called on the various relevant security agencies in the state to beef up security and protect the lives and properties of residents, while also calling on them to launch an investigation into the unfortunate incident that transpired yesterday at the Palace in a bid to bring the offenders to book.

In conclusion Comrade Idris Usman called on the good people of Edo state to be law-abiding, to eschew violence, thuggery, and electoral related offenses, and lastly to ensure they go out and vote peacefully in the upcoming September 19 election in the state.
